Multidisciplinary Care Required

Clinical manifestations of epilepsy in the elderly are different from those in younger patients. The diagnosis of epilepsy can be challenging because of different entities that need to be considered in the differential diagnosis, psychosocial factors, comorbidities including cognitive dysfunction, and non-specific abnormalities on routine investigations. Treatment can also be more difficult due to unique changes in pharmacological dynamics, increased sensitivity to side effects, presence of comorbidities and drug interactions.
